About Olivia Bennett
I painted my entire dining room “creamy white” only to flip the light switch that evening and discover it glowed like a radioactive highlighter. That fluorescent yellow disaster cost me three days and five gallons of primer. I’m Olivia Bennett, the writer and serial rearranger behind decorcrushhub.com. I live in Providence, Rhode Island, tackling a quirky 1920s Colonial Revival that constantly keeps me guessing. Between the original dentil crown molding that refuses to take a straight line of caulk and the sloped wide-plank pine floors, decorating here is equal parts love affair and hostage negotiation. Before I started documenting my renovation battles online, I spent six years working as a theater set dresser and an antique co-op appraiser. That weird combination means I know exactly how to fake high-end built-ins using cheap plywood, but I can also spot a reproduction mid-century credenza from across a crowded flea market. I don’t believe in rushing a room. You’ll usually find me staring at Farrow & Ball swatches taped to my hallway walls, rigorously testing how they look at three different times of day before I even think about cracking open a fresh can. Here on the blog, I share the messy reality of making a house feel like a home—without the filtered perfection. I just want to share my own projects, help you avoid my neon-paint mistakes, and figure out how to make stubborn old architecture play nice with modern living.
